Another Lost Resort Reopens

Eclipse Snow Park is the latest closed resort to reopen. On the site of the Saint Mary's Glacier which closed in the mid 1980's.

There is talk on the website of year round sport.....

Hey had a look at that, good to see it open. Another one for the list.

It's not yet open and I'd say extremely doubtful that it ever will. Quite a lot of hurdles to overcome before it can.

A good discussion or two have taken place on Colorado Ski History on the subject. The actual site is extremely interesting on lost resorts and the history of skiing in Colorado and the forum is a great source of info for anyone thinking of visiting Colorado.

Oh not open, doh! Had another look at their site, it's not all that clear. Ok so I see that they use wording like 'will offer' I see now. Strange though they're quite ambiguous about the resort's operating status.

Yeah, ran into a lot of problems with the road in, neighbours and the like. Was the only thread on CSH to ever be locked after it got a bit heated as I recall!

If it does fail then it shows that sometimes the small people win. The person behind Eclipse Snow Park, Michael Coors, is a scion of the Coors Brewing Company.
