New Lift For Powder Mountain - 21stApril 2006
Powder Mountain, one of Utah's true hidden skiing gems, will spend $4.5 million to replace its Hidden Lake Lift this summer with a Doppelmayr CTEC, four person detachable high speed lift. The new chairlift will be the ski and snowboard area's first high-speed detachable chair.
The lift, to be named the Hidden Lake Express, is manufactured in Salt Lake City and construction will start on July 1. The mountain will be removing the old lift between now and June 30.
The present Hidden Lake lift, one of the ski area's primary workhorses, has a capacity of 1,200 persons per hour and is 30 years old. The new lift will have a capacity of 2,400 per hour.
Everyone at Powder Mountain is excited about the lift and what it will do for our customers. This will provide our skiing and snowboarding guests better access to our 5,500 acres of real snow, remarked Marc Paulsen, spokesperson for Powder Mountain Resort.
The new chairlift, which will follow the line of the old chair, is expected to be in operation by December.
