Jeff's Corner -
Badger Mountain, Washington
Badger Mountain is a community ski area operated by the Lions
Club of the
small town of Waterville, about 30 miles north of Wenatchee, Washington.
While Wenatchee is a wine and fruit growing region in the rain
shadow of the
Cascades, this area is on a cold plateau where snow stays for
months at a
time. This area receives relatively light snow but due to the
cold
temperatures conditions on the hill are fairly consistent, though
not
exactly deep.
The area has a rope tow and one of the steepest t-bars I¹ve
ever seen. It¹s
primarily open on weekends. There is a base lodge which offers
rudimentary
services.
The main trail occupies the steep face of the area, while easier
and
narrower trails fan off to the skier¹s left and right.. There
is a pavillion
atop the hill where there is a fine view to the north. It¹s
also possible to
see the remnants of the area¹s original lift, a rope tow
serviced by an old
car.
